In the past, I’ve thrown in the towel on what I had called a “weight loss journey” because my goal didn’t make sense: I didn’t really want to lose weight, I wanted to change my body composition and look better. But when we’re comparing our progress against the wrong criteria, we can’t be successful.
It’s pretty simple: Turn the Golden Rule back around onto you.
We’d never attempt to build a house without the appropriate tools and training, so why the hell do we think we can build our lives and relationships without them?
If you were cautiously side-eyeing the Obituaries section of the news to make sure my name wasn’t there, I’d like to now assure you I am still very much alive.
There are critical issues in my life that need to be addressed first. I need to eat well. I need to take care of myself. Once I’ve done these things, I can take care of my son. Then I can take care of my work. Then I can take care of the house.
